SOUTHERLY CHANGE
LIGHT RAIN PROBABLE Special forecast for Wellington:— Light to moderate northerly winds at first, but winds soon turning to the south and freshening somewhat. Weather changeable, and probably some light rain at times, with temperatures becoming colder. The general forecast for the Dominion as a whole, issued at noon today for the ensuing twenty-four hours, is for light to moderate northerly winds at first over the North Island. Elsewhere moderate to strong southerlies will prevail, and southerlies will 'become general before tomorrow morning. ■ On the west coast of the South Island the weather will be fine, but elsewhere it will be changeable with scattered and mainly light to moderate rain. Temperatures will become colder. , . , • During the night a weak depression passed in the south, with the result that a light to moderate southerly change has since taken place over the South Island, while easterly to northerly winds have continued to predominate in the North Island. Fine and pleasant weather was general yesterday, but since last night some light scattered rain has fallen in the far south, and by this morning there had'been a fairly general increase in cloud over the Dominion. Pressure is still fairly high, however, and very uniform, and the depression located over ..the central Tasman Sea appears to be gradually
Ailing. * I Auckland's weather yesterday was fair and mild, but mostly cloudy, with a very light north-easterly breeze. At 9 a.m. today it was cloudy and overcast. ■ Wellington had a fine and sunny day with a northerly breeze, 11:6 hours of bright sunshine being recorded. In Christchurch it was fine and sunny with a moderate easterly breeze, but early this morning the wind changed to the south-west and the weather at 9 a.m. today was overcast. Dunedin had fine and clear weather also, the wind there being a southeasterly breeze. This morning a southwesterly breeze was blowing, and the weather was fair.
