GAELIC CLUB

The Wellington Gaelic Club held its children's Hallowe'en party on Saturday afternoon, when about eighty children .gathered in the clubrooms to celebrate the ancient festival of All Hallows Eve. The young folks had a very "happy time and thoroughly enjoyed the various games, including the time-honoured "dookin" for apples, service of mashed potatoes with hidden charms, supplies of false-faces, sweets, nuts etc. The monthly Ceilidh was held in the evening,' Mrs. A. McVicar, the presi- 1 dent, presiding over a large gathering. Proceedings opened with a_ stirring selection on the pipes by .Pipers A. Graham, N. MacLeod, and w. Chisholm. This was followed by Gaelic songs by Mrs. H. McWhinme, Messrs. P. Mackay, J. Maclnnes, and A. Kennedy; Hebridean : and Scots songs by Messrs. J. Montgomery and H. Stevens, the latter also contributing a humorous item which was much enjoyed. The- club orchestra, under the leadership of Mr. W. Newlands, gave a selfection, and Misses Nancy Mac Donald and Peggy MacKinnon danced the sword dance and highland fling. Mrs. London was : the accompaniste for the evening. r The" usual dances, under •Mr.?. MacDiarmid as M.C., were indulged in to music supplied by the club orchestra and pipers, Mrs. London and Mr. Flood. Supper was served under the direction of Mrs. J. Mac Arthur, and a very, pleasant evening, was brought to a. close • with the singing of Auld Lang Syne" and the National Anthem.
