THE LATEST CARS

EXHIBITION IN LONDON

(British Official Wireless.) • RUGBY, October 10. At the International Motor Exhibition, which opens on Thursday, the entire display, which includes private motor-cars, carriage work, motor-boats, marine engines, caravans, trailers, and equipment and accessories of all kinds, will occupy about - 25,000 square feet more than last year. It is stated that the gangways throughout the exhibition will total about ten miles in length. Five hundred, and fifty cars, ranging in price from £100 to £3000, will be exhibited by 2*9 British, five German, five French, four-Italian, one Belgian, and 14 .American arid Canadian firms. The total .value of all the cars will be about £250,000.

The general; trend ,of the development of the 1938 models is towards better and more reliable performance, coupled with more economical running. Great attention has also been paid to considerations of safety, particularly in relation to gear, braking, and springing systems. The tendency in recent years lor increased size and power in engines continues,

An interesting feature will be this first practical Diesel-engined private car.
