LEAGUE MEETING
GOOD PROGRESS MADE
The annual meeting of the Wellington Lawn Tennis League, held last night, was attended by 28 delegates representing 18 clubs.
Mr. L. G. Thompson, president, ir extending a welcome to the delegates reviewed activities over a number oi years, and expressed satisfaction at the progress made, especially during th< past two seasons. This progress marked appreciation of the efforts 01 the league to foster social tennis at £ very low financial cost to players. The following officers were elected for the 1937-38 season:—Patron, Mr R. A. Wright, M:P.; president, Mr. L G. Thompson; vice-president, presidents of affiliated clubs, the Rt. Hon. M. J Savage, Messrs. E. S. Hylton, G. Nelson W. Charles, and P. Brown; hon. secretary, Mr. H. W. Deal; hon. treasurer, Mr. R. J. Hartridge; management committee, Miss L. Siewart, Messrs. W. H Kelly, R. McGrath, W. Hall; hon auditor, Mr. R. Turner. The proposal to 'have -tour inter-clut grades this season met with genera] approval. The affiliation fee of 7s oc per club and 7s 6d per team were fixed as the 1937-38 season's fees. Entries for the inter-club championships close on October 18. The inter-club competitions commence on Saturday, November 6. MIRAMAR CLUB A very promising start was made on Saturday by the Miramar Club with the first aggregate series of the progressive handicap tournaments. lht weather was ideal, and enabled the committee to set the new system in operation under the best possible conditions. The eighty menbers who participated entered into the spirit of the tournament, and the keenness of the competition was evidenced by the fad that only 14 points separated the top ten men, and a further ten players gained a place within 20 points of the highest score. Among the ladies ** points separated the top ten, ana twenty-two ladies gained scores within 30 points of the winner. The best scores were returned by the following. Women; Miss A. Macdonald (137), Miss B. Lewis (132), Miss P. Ludlow (125) Mrs D. McKenzie (123), Miss F. Davis (119), Miss J. McGregor _(119), Miss F, Duncan (117), Miss J. Stirling (117 X Miss D.
