The wedding was celebrated at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Welligton, recently, of Mavis, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Moran, Ngaio, and James, second son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Eadie, Wellington. The Rev. Brian Kilroy officiated, and Mr, F. Thomas played the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a frock of white satin and lace cut on classic lines, the skirt flaring into a long graceful train. The beautiful embroidered veil, which was lent for the occasion, was held in place by a coronet of orange blossom, and she carried a sheaf of arum lilies. The bridesmaids, the Misses Helen and Jesie Eadie (sisters of the bridegroom), were dressed in coral pink velvet frocks, slightly trained, and trimmed with silver lame and buttons. EMi wore a headdress of flowers, to tone with her bouquet. Mr. George Peterwood was best man, and Mr. Andrew Eadie (the bridegroom's brother) was groomsman. A reception was held at the Mayfair Cabaret, where the bride's mother received the guests wearing a smart floral wedgegood blue tunic-suit. She was assisted by the bridegroom's mother, who wore a smart navy blue ensemble with accessories to match. Both carried posies to tone. A gay programme of dances concluded the evening's celebrations. The young couple left later for the north, where the honeymoon was to be spent. LEAGUE OF MOTHERS "BIRTHDAY" MEETING A very pleasant programme has been arranged for the celebration of the tenth "birthday" of the Wellington Central Branch ,of the League of Mothers. This will be held this week. Mrs. Charles White (Dominion president) and Mrs. Peter Fraser will address the meeting, and a great deal of use and interest to mothers is anticipated from the addresses. Some enjoyable music will be given, and a specially fine birthday cake will be provided for the enjoyment of afternoon tea. All members of the league will be cordially welcomed. HERE AND THERE Attractive Decorations. " Beautifully decorated tables were s feature of the South African War Veterans' Reunion at the Mayfair Cabarel on Saturday night. The decorations, which were carried out in the South African colours of red, blue, and yellow, were the work of Mrs. W. Woilley and her three daughters, who were assisted by Mesdames Muir, Cull, and Payne. Chinese Party. A novelty Chinese party was given by Miss Joan Harris in her studio or Saturday evening. The studio was decorated with multi-coloured Chinese lanterns and streamers, and there were many beautiful costumes worn by the guests. Those present included Mrs Harris, Misses McGraith, Hodge, Rob ' ins, Cleveland, Collins, and Messrs " Garry Chambers, Fred Harrison, Mas 1 Green, Bill Warris, Colin Price, Tom 1 Jackson, Jack Harris, Ralph Willaby, ; and Peter Gibbons. . St. Paul's Nursing Division. At the last meeting of St. Paul's • Nursing Division the annual competition for the Stace Cup was held. This cup was presented by the late Mr. and 1 Mrs. Albert Stace to be competed foi I annually in home nursing. Dr. Alistei 1 Young acted as judge of the competi- ' tion, and Mrs. Osborne assisted by i judging the uniforms. Mrs. McCabe I was the winner, and Dr. Young congraulated her on the high standard oi [ her work. ! Apollo Women's Club. 1 The Apollo Women's Club met re I cently, Mrs. W. H. P. Walsh presidin? ; over a good attendance of .members ; Mrs. H. Thomas gave much pleasure with two songs, being accompanied bj Beatrice Douglas. Miss Marion Todc gave much pleasure with an interest ing and instructive lecture and demon stration of physical culture. She wa! accorded a hearty vote of thanks Supper was served by Mesdames Richards, White, and Miss Ridley. Brooklyn Plunket Society. ; A very successful and enjoyable . "500" party was held at the residence of Mrs. A. 8.. France, Brooklyn, lasi week. The function was organised tc [ assist the funds of the produce anc i sweets stalls at the forthcoming Plun ket Society fair, to be held by the Brooklyn committee .early in November. Prizes were won by Mr. and I Mrs. Parton, Miss Haggitt, and Mr ; Alexander. A dainty supper was ' served 'by Mesdames France, Crack--5 nail, Butler, McCaw, and Heppleston t Upper Hutt Dance.
