AUCKLAND NOMINATIONS

Two brilliant Australian pacers in Lawn Derby and Speedy Boy hav« seen entered for the Auckland Trot* :ing Club's Meeting on October 23 an<J 25. They are expected to competa later at important South Island Meetings. The chief events include soma aseful pacers and good contests lookl :ertain to be provided. The Jellicoe Handicap claims ad sntry of 11, and of them there is no doubt that Lawn Derby represents real :lass. He has long been recognised aft ane of the best pacers raced in Aus» tralia, and has a two-mile record of 4 shade worse than 4min 24sec. He can both sprint and stay. Lawn Derby alsQ holds the Australian record for a legged mile, having run the distance in 2min 3 l-ssec. Speedy Boy has soma fine form to his credit and is recognls* ed as in the best class. He is a moil reliable pacer and a good stayer. The recent efforts of Lady Fini# have been attractive and in her last three starts she has gained a flrstk Becond, and third. At the Wellington September Meeting she was response ble for two ;:ood performances. At the start of tho sprint she was interfered with by the breaking Little Nelson, and lost fully 60 yards.
