NEWTOWN CLUB
The Newtown Bowling Clubs season was opened by the president (Mr. GW Booth) on Saturday m the presence of a large crowd of bowlers and their friends. Mr. Booth paid a tribute to the work of the green superintendent (Mr. H. Welton) and the greenkeeper (Mr. W. Lews). Mrs. Booth threw up the first kitty, and Mr. J. H. Helliwelf played the first b °Among those present were Messrs. Thomaforeen (the only living foundation member), and It was announced that Mr. H. S Jupp had presented a trophy for the most improved senior player, and Mr. G. Rees had presented a trophy for the most improved junior player. UPPER HUTT CLUB The opening of. the season of.the Upper Hutt Bowling and Tennis Club was held on Saturday. Mr. W. Greig welcomed members and visitors and the Mayor <Mr. A. J.
