The first cases, under, the new.regulations by which' offeridinLg motorists may be ordered to. undergo! a course of instruction conducted by the Transport Department, were heard in the-Magis-trate's Court today before Mr. H. W. Bundle, S.M.

Clifford Arnold Hitchcox, who pleaded guilty to a charge of dangerous driving, was stated by Senior-Sergeant Packer to have driven his motor-cycla along King Street at 50 miles an hour. In the opinion of the police this was a where the defendant should be made to attend the Transport Department's driving school. The case was adjourned until December 10, the defendant in the meantime being ordered to take a course of instruction directed by the chief traffic inspector, and to pay costs (10s).

William Jones, who was charged with negligent driving, was also or-' dered to take a course of instruction, his case being adjourned until December 10.
