ITALIAN CULTURAL CLUB

A programme of particular interest was presented to the members of the Italian Cultural Club at their last reunion in the Lyceum Club rooms, Miss C. Prouse being in charge. _ After the usual language instruction had taken place, the . patron, Commander L. B. Vitali, gave a most interesting- and instructive talk on the life and works of the Florentine, Dante Alighieri, greatest of all Italian- poets, the speaker laying stress on the influence which the poet had on the Italian language.' The talk was warmly appreciated by all present. Musical items followed, comprising two 'cello solos by Mr. S. McLean, "Kol Nidrei" (Max Bruch) and "Hamabdil" (Granville Bantock); also two flute numbers by Mr. Jas. Rodgers, "The Whirlwind" (Krantz) and "Aye Maria" (Schubert). The accompaniments of Mrs. G. Aldridge were a feature of the concert "Giovinezza" and "God Save trie King" concluded the evening. Supper was served; _____
