BURNSIDE CLUB
Tho annual meeting of the Burnside Tenris Club was held recently. Th= balance-sheet sh»wed the club's financial position to be very sound and praise was given to the outgoing committee for its excellent work in fostering the social and playing activities during the season.
The junior team were runners-up in their, section and although inclement weather helj3 up club championships these were all played off with the following results: —.Men's singles championship, senior, C. McCormack (who also won the handicap singles trophy); ladies' championship singles, senior, M. Butterworth; men's singles championship, junior, J. Arundel; ladies' championship singles, junior, B. Cadman; ladies' handicap singles, M. Cadman. The most improved player. B. Cadman. Friendly games were played with other clubs and proved to be very The election of officers resulted:— President, (Mr. J. Brassell; vice-presi-dents, Messrs. Barton and Laird; management committee, Mr. D. Osborn (club captain), Miss E. Stead (secre-tary-treasurer), Mrs. A. Mercer, Mrs. R. Butterworth, Messrs. R. Curtis, M. King, and W. Tynan. It was decided to hold a midweek club for ladies. The official opening takes place on October 2.
