The Italian Government has instruct" ed its Ambassador at Moscow to demand the release of Luigi Patroni, a naval engineer who was arrested near Leningrad last week and charged with espionage. Patroni is the chief of a technical delegation which was^lent to Russia by a big Italian shipbuilding company. The position is considered to be favourable as thirty Russian engineers who are studying under the same shipbuilders at Leghorn could be held as hostages if reprisals prove necessary.
