WELLINGTON PAMERA CLUB

At last week's meeting of the Wellington Camera Club a demonstration and competition on still life arrangement were held. Championship and runner-up, together with all three awards in A grade, were won by the entries of Mr. H. A. McDonald. Results in B grade were: Mr. J. Kershaw 1, Mr. K. G. Killoh 2, and Mr. C. Jackson 3. Each picture was commented upon by Mr. J. W. Johnson, who also exhibited si large number of still life studies and described the various forms upon which they were built up. By means of sketches he showed how such pitfalls as leading-out lines, incorrect perspective, and ugly shapes could be avoided. Various "sets" were also arranged in lightning style by the lecturer, and these were photographed by members. The beginners' session took the form of a demonstration of tank development by Mr. H. A. McDonald, who went through the whole process, from taking the film out of his camera to hanging the developed strip up to dry. j As the tank was a daylight loading j one, there was no need for the oldfashioned darkroom and the developing was done under the ordinary room lights. The cost of "doing your own this way is amazingly small and it is rmfch more fascinating than having the film done professionally.
