A DOUBTFUL MOVE

PARADE ON OFF-DAY

For many years past the Wanganui Jockey Club held a two-year-old parade on the opening day of its Spring Meeting, the performances of the youngsters being followed with interest in view of their debut in the Debutant Stakes on the second day. However, the committee of the club elected to transfer the event to the off-day this year and substitute a hack and hunters' steeplechase contest whereby it hopes to increase the totalisator returns. However, (he transfer of the parade to the off-day will no doubt entail some inconvenience to the trainers of the youngsters, and many of the general public will be prevented from witnessing the preliminary outing of the Debutant candidates. Under the circumstances it is rather regrettable that the club did not fit the parade in between the events figuring on the first day's programme. The parade has now been set down for 3 o'clock tomorrow afternoon and the following youngsters are due to figure:— C. W. Boyd's b c Surmount, by Surveyor—Cometary. D.
