TOMORROW'S CEREMONY

The ceremonial arrangements for the opening of Parliament tomorrow by his Excellency the Governor-General (Viscount Galway) have been completed. At 3 p.m. his Excellency will depart from Government House, this procedure being accompanied by a salute of nineteen guns' from Point Jerningham. He will be escorted on his drive to Parliament Buildings /by . mounted policemen. On his arrival at the main steps to Parliament Buildings, he will receive a salute from the guard of honour mounted by the Royal New Zealand Artillery, Fort Dorset, and the Army School, Trentham, and after the playing of the National Anthem by the 2nd Artillery Brigade Group Band, his Excellency will inspect the guard before ■ being conducted to the Legislative Council Chamber by the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod, Captain Douglas Bryan. will be the first occasion for many years on which the office of Black Rod has not been held by Mr. A. T. Bothamley, 1.5.0. ' His Excellency will then direct Black Rod to summon the members of the Lower House to the Legislative Council Chamber, where he will read the Speech from the Throne. At the conclusion of the Speech, members of the House of Representatives will retire to their own Chamber, where the business of the session will be inaugurated.
