"IMPUDENT" NOTE
ROLE OF ACCUSED POWER
LONDON, September. 7.
Dispatches from Rome state that the newspapers angrily denounce Russia's "impudent" Note. Political circles, however, do not anticipate the breaking off of diplomatic relations, but stress that Italy will not consent to attend the Mediterranean conference in the role of an accused Power.
From Paris it is reported that the Soviet Note to Italy, though deplored, was more or less expected there.
