COASTAL CRUISE

ACHILLES AND LEANDER

AUCKLAND, Sept. 7,

A two months' cruise to New Zealand ports, which will be visited for the first time since she joined the New Zealand naval station on August 18, will be made by the new cruiser Leander between October 4 and December 4. Part of the cruise will be made in company with the flagship, H.M.S. Achilles, and full-power, trials will be- carried but by both vessels.

H.M.S. Leander will visit Napier from October 5 until October 9, sailing then to Dunedin for a week from October 11 until October 18. Bluff will be the next port ot call, from October 19 until October 22, after which the cruiser will visit the West Coast sounds, proceeding to New Plymouth on October 30 and remaining there until November 4.

Leaving Auckland on November 3, H.M.S. Achilles will join H.M.S. Leander at Lyttelton on November 5, and both vessels will move to Akaroa on November 12, when H.M.S. Leander will be inspected by the Commodore Commanding the New Zealand station, Rear-Admiral the Hon. E. R. Drummond. From November 18 until November 25 the cruisers will visit Wellington, proceeding then to Auckland.
