SERVICES RECOGNISED

AUCKLAND, September 6.
In recognition. of his eminent services to the mining industry over a long period of years, Cabinet has awarded Mr. Frank Reed, Mount Eden,; a special grant of £500, according to advice received by Mr. Reed from the Minister of Mines (the Hon. P. C. Webb).
For many years,' until his retirement in 1922, Mr. Reed was inspecting engineer and, chief inspector of New Zealand Mines, and previously he had held similar positions with the Government of Western Australia.
