The Minister of Public Works (the Hon. R. Semple) returned to Wellington from the South Island this morning. The Minister of Agriculture (the Hon. W. 1,. Mar.tin) attended a function at Palmerston North today in connection with the Young Farmers' Club Movement, and was a guest of the New Zealand Federation of Young Farmers' Club at afternoon tea. . The Minister of Education (the Hon. P. Fraser) returned to Wellington today from Rotorua. Mr. E. D. Mosley, S.M., was a passenger from the South Island this morning. The Commissioner of Police, Mr. D. J. Cunvnings, returned, from the south this morning. Mr. Frank Milner, C.M.G., Rector of the Waitaki Boys' High School, is in Wellington. Mr. E. Abbey Jones., general manager of the "Southland Daily News," arrived in Wellington from the souths this morning. Canon H. O. T. Hanby has. been elected a Grand Chaplain, of the Masonic Grand Lodge of New Zealand for the. period 1937-38. Messrs. E.\ D. Brown (Christchurch), C.S3. Nelson (Woodville), G. Nickson and Sir Benjamin Fuller (Sydney) are guests at the Royal Oak Hotel. >. Mr. F. E. Nottage, of Tasman, Nelson, has been elected to represent the Can-terburyrNelson-Marlborough provincial district on the New Zealand Fruit Export Control Board. He had a majority of 76 votes over Mr. J. A. Fraser, of Mahana, Nelson. Respect to; the memory of the late Mr. Justice Page was paid at last_ night's meeting of the council of the New Zealand Golf Association. His Honour was a former member of the council. Motions of condolence with the relatives of the late Mr. Dan McKenzie, a keen Wellington and New Zealand cricket enthusiast, the late Mr: W. H. Winsor, secretary of the T^ew Zealand Cricket Council, and the late Mr.: Jack Rodger, a senior umpire in Wellington, were passed at the annual meeting of the Wellington Cricket Association last night.
