THREE DEAD IN GUN BATTLE TORONTO, September 4. A message from Springfield states that two patrolmen and a bandit were shot dead and a patrolman wounded in a gun battle, Four armed bandits, after the theft jf a payroll of 1297 dollars, took refuge in a cottage from which they fired on the patrolmen. Two of the bandits'escaped and one who was wounded ■ was captured. Bloodhounds and a posse of police are engaged in a search.
