CLUB OPENINGS
Two Wellington lawn tennis clubs, Talavera and Newtown, opened their season in unfavourable' weather on Saturday afternoon. The Mayor (Mr. T. C. A. Hislop) performed the official cper.ing at Talavera, and praised the club members for the improvements which they had effected t,o the courts and surroundings. Among the many present were Mr. li. A. Wright, M.P., and also Messrs. J. L. Mac Duff and H. h. Wise, representing the Wellington Lawn Tennis Association management committee. The president of the Wellington Ur n: pires' Association outlined (the activi ties of the association. The Newtown Club was opened by Mr. R. McKeen, M.P. In the eyening a dinner and dance was held in the pavilion of the Wellington La\yh Tennis Association at, Miramar. Messrs. J. L. Mac Duff, A, C, Wi Mantell-Hard-ing, C. KiDonnell, and L.H.: Pollock represented the association. : \ '
