OBITUARY
MRS. MARY ROWELL. •■• Through the death of Mrs. Mary Rowell, Wellington has lost one of her best-known citizens. She was an excellent hostess and a first-class caterer Born in Melbourne in 1868, Mrs. Rowell was the daughter, Of Mr. and Mrs. O'Neill, and in 1888 she married Mr. Tom Rowell and later came to Wellingto to settle down. It did not take them long to build up a business, and until Mrs. Rowell was in bad health in 1932 she always took an active part in the conduct of their shop. Unfortunately the late Mrs. Rowell became incapacitated with rheumatoid arthritis, the illness causing her to be practically confined to her house,' Her only son died under tragic circumstances about forty years ago. being accidentally drowned at the age of two years. Her husband, Mr. Tom Rowell. survives her Although the funeral was private, many friends gathered at her late residence. 322 Oriental Parade, where a short service was conducted by the Rev. Mr. Saunders, and later at the Karori Cemetery.
