BLACK MAC AT CAULFIELD MELBOURNE, September 4. The convincing way Black Mac smothered the stars and'won the Memsie Stakes at the V.A.T.C. Meeting; at Caulfleld today is regarded as certain to bring that six-year?old gelding into the Melbourne Cup reckoning. The Warriston Handicap, was a test for Avenger—whether he is worth sending to the A.J.C. Derby . His stylish-win seemed to settle all doubts on that score.
