ENJOYED THE SPORT
FLUTTER ON THE "TOTE"
CBy Telegraph—Press Association.)
CHRISTCHURCH, This Day.
The members of the Springbok team were the guests of the New Brighton Trotting Club at its race meeting this morning, and for the first time in their lives they saw trotting races. With a carefree outlook they abandoned themselves for the time being to a full enjoyment of the sport of trotting, making their investments on Jhe totalisator with as much enthusiasm as any keen New Zealand race-goer, and while the races' were being run giving expression to their emotions. When asked if they had formed any particular impressions of the trotting races, several of them said it was great fun, and they were enjoying it immensely.
All members of the team were present. They arrived at the course just after the' first race, and remained to see the third race, the principal event of the day, and some at least would have liked to have stayed a little longer. As G. H. Brand, the full-back, expressed it, they had never before in their travels had an opportunity of such pleasant diversion before a big match, and while their ideas of trotting might be a bit confused, they at least enjoyed themselves thoroughly.
