MORNING AT TROTS
THE SPRINGBOK SIDE
CHOICE OF WHITE
(By Telegraph.) (Special to the "Evening Post.")
CHRISTCHURCH, This Day.
The second Rugby Test today has brought many thousands of people from all parts "of New Zealand, the invasion of Christchurch being the most remarkable in its football history, 'The streets have been thronged with visitors and as an aid to relieving the congestion and avoiding accidents a loud-speaker system is being operated in the Square.
While many people were early on the way to Lancaster Park,' many Others, including most members of the New Zealand and South African teams, spent the morning at the New Brighton Trots, a race meeting which was a new and interesting experience for the Springboks.
It was not until the Springboks returned from the trots that the actual fifteen for the match was decided upon. Although the weather had improved somewhat the heavy state of the ground was the determining factor in the choice of White instead of Hofmeyr 'in the three-quarter line, White's defence weighing against'Hofrneyr's attacking ability. The selection of Craven and Harris as the halves was not surprising.
The New Zealand team is unchanged and should be more favoured than' the Springboks by the conditions.
