Marsden "Old Girls."

A particularly enjoyaolo meeting took place recently when a numDei of Marsden "Old Girls" met at the home of one of their number— Mrs. jAldworth, at Te Horo, on the invitation of the Manawatu branch. -The guests were the members of the executive Old Girls' Association, all Ot whom drove up from various directions and had afternoon tea and a great deal of pleasant talk about mutual interests. Those present included MissClere (president). Miss M. White (secretary), Mrs. Pope, Mrs, Stewart, Miss Burnett, Miss A. Yeats, Miss Annette Harcourt, Mrs. N. Kjrkcaldie, Mrs. B. Swainson, Mrs. A. Cameron, Mrs. Horrobin, Miss B. Swainson, Miss K» Stocker, and Miss J. Booth. Dance at Kelburn. The Kelburn Kiosk was the scene ,of a very happy gathering recently when. Mrs. F. Grant gave a most enjoyable dance in honour of her eldest daughter. Nura. About fifty young people met in the attractive Kiosk. Mrs. Grant reVeivod in a. frock of deep blue georgette, relieved with a spray of petunias. Miss Grant was wearing a ' gay coloured floral taffeta with shoulder and wrist sprays of^ scarlet flowers. Her twin sisters, Pauline and Noeline, were in youthful pink and green taffeta frocks, with touches of silverComplimentary Party. An enjoyable evening was spent re* cently at the residence of Mr, an<l3Jrs. M. Cooper, Ngaio, when the guests ot honour were Miss Qlivs, Handscombe and Mr. K. R. Paton. The evening was spent in music, games, and dancing. A delicious home-made savoury; supper was served. Others present were Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Paton, Mrs.- J. Handscombe, Mr. and Mrs. J. M.- Leanard, Mr. and Mrs. T.H. Kinmond, Mr. and Mrs. G. Handscombe, Miss C. F.-iward-son, Miss P. Carpenter, Mr. W. Warring, Mr. J, McGowan, and Mr. L. Handscombe. Repertory Arts Ball Prizes. There is sure to be a splendid array,, of historical costumes worn at the Repertory Arts Ball which will take place towards the end; of this month as a particularly worth-while prize is being offered for the best set dressed as English kings and 'queens. There are also prizes for the most humourous male rfhd female costumes^ for the best costume made by the wearer, and a first and second prize for the best representation of historical male and female characters. Those wearing ordinary evening dress will" not be allowed on the dance floor until 11 p.m., so the effect of the pageant will not be destroyed. The ball will'not .be entirely historical in. character, as the dancers may please themselves in their choice of a fancy dress costume. Island Bay Dance.
