MASTERTON BURGLARY

(Special to the "Evening Post.")

MASTERTON, This Day,

Between £50 and £60 in cash was stolen from the strongroom of the Masterton office of the New Zealand Farmers' Co-operative Distributing Co., Ltd., Queen Street, on Thursday night. The burglars gained access to the building by forcing open a window at the back, and succeeded in finding the key to the strongroom, which was kept in a certain place for the convenience of the staff. The strongroom was opened, the money taken, and the room relocked. As the burglars took away the key it was necessary yesterday to cut out the lock before access could be gained to the strongroom.

By forcing open a door, an entry was obtained to the firm's grocery shop, where some cigarettes and tobacco were stolen. It is not yet known if any other goods were taken.
