HEIR TO MANCHUKUO?
Physicians announced on Julj\ 25 that the consort of Prince Pu Chieh, heir presumptive to the Throne of Manchukuo, was expecting the birth of a child early next year. If the baby is a boy, he will become second in line of succession to the orchid throne of Emperor Kangte, the one-time boy Emperor of China. After fifteen years of marriage the Emperor still is childless. Prince Pu Chieh, his brother, is heir according to the new Manchukuo law of succession. The law bars' women from the Throne. Prince Pu Chieh was married in Tokio on April 3 to 23-year-old sliroko Saga, daughter of a Japanese marquis. The wedding was according to the rites of Shinto, Japan's national religion. The original plans called for a second marriage ceremony, following ancient Chinese customs, at Hsinking, the Manchukuoan capital, in October.
