The Longshoremen's r leader,. Mr. Harry' Bridges, personally .led 500 pickets of the Committee for Industrial, Organisation against teamsters of the American Federation of Labour at A waterside warehouse, following factional rivalry for. union jurisdiction. Police dispersed the rioters, no one being' injured. Pickets grappled with teamsters hauling merchandise from the warehouse, which has been closed since October, when sixty warehousemen were discharged. Police fought through the mob and persuaded the teamsters to desist. The Teamsters' Union, in retaliation, placed an embargo on all cargo at the San Francisco docks until the question of jurisdiction is settled.
Four thousand teamsters arc involved and a long tie-up is threatened: Mr. Bridges was involved in his dual capacity as head of the longshoremen and regional director of the C.1.0.
