OPENING OF TALKS
SANTANDER ANNOUNCEMENT
LONDON, September 1
The radio station at Santander announces that talks have opened for the surrender of Gijon to the rebels.
A message from Burgos claims that the insurgents are attacking, on the Aragon front, and also claims that the Government forces suffered 22,000 casualties in eight days in. the offensive at Saragossa.
