BRITISH INTERPRETER AT ADDiS ABABA
(British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, July 23. The decision of the Italian Government to free Tafara Werk, an Abyssinian who was formerly employed as an interpreter at the British Legation and Consulate-General at Addis Ababa, was announced in the House of Commons by the Foreign Secretary, Mr. Anthony Eden, who explained that Work's functions had never entitled him to enjoy a privileged position, and that the British Government, though it had made representations nt Rome, had no locus standi on his behalf. The Foreign Secretary added: "His Majesty's Government appreciates the good will of the Italian Government and tho personal interest, which I understand the heads of the Italian Government have shown in this matter."
