The Navy Department has published summaries of comparative data of the navies of the world. ■ Britain ' leads with 285 warships (1,216,398 tons), the United States has 325 (1,083,330 tons), : and Japan 200 (745,604 tons).. New vessels building in Britain are five battleships, five aircraft-carriers, 21 light cruisers, 46 destroyers, and 19 < submarines; in the United States two battleships, three aircraft-carriers, nine light cruisers, 55 destroyers, 17 submarines, and one heavy cruiser: and Japan, ■ two battleships, four aircraftcarriers, -14 light cruisers, and three destroyers.
