POISON GAS EXECUTION
(Received July 30, 9.40 a.m.) KOVNO, July 29. The first poison gas execution under the new law was carried out. A man who was gassed for murdering five Jews died in eight minutes. The Lithuanian Government, acting on the recommendation of legal and medical experts, promulgated a law early this yeai introducing poison gas fo- executions on the ground that it is more humane than shooting or hanging.
