MOOSE AND WAPITI
PROPOSED CULLING
•(Special to the "Evening Post.") ■ ■ PALMERSTON N., This Day. A report was received by the Palmerston North branch,of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society last evening that* the Department of Internal AHairs intended sanctioning • culling operations against moose and wapiti in the country where they. are established behind Lake Te Anau. . Members who had visited the locality were at a loss to account for such intentions, as neither moose nor wapiti were plentiful from the sportsman's viewpoint. There were just sufficient to attract stalking parties into the fiord country and it would be a great pity if ruthless .destruction were permitted. It was decided to bring the matter under the' notice of the Wellington society.
