A message from Fort Norman, in ths North-western territory, states that ths Governor-General of Canada,. Lord Tweedsmiur, while returning from a sub-Arctic tour, narrowly escaped a fall down a mountain while climbing,( A ledge gave way and he clung to ail overhanging branch till rescued.

A guide and two members of tht party were in peril on a ledge for tw»] hours till they were rescued by Indians'* with ropes.
