CARTAGE RATES
(Special to the "Evening Post."! WANGANUI, July 29,
Some opposition to the suggestion that charges, for transport should be fixed was shown at a meeting held in Wanganui last evening, when the schedule of prices submitted by the Wanganui and district branch of the New Zealand Road Transport Alliance was considered by representatives of the New Zealand Farmers' Union and other users of road transport. Mr. P. M. Skoglund, of the No. 2 District Licensing Authority, was present, and said that the Government wanted to see fair treatment on all sides, and he hoped that the carriers' and users would get together and fix prices satisfactory to both. No decision was reached, many present, including the secretary of the Wanganui Farmers' Union provincial, voicing disapproval of any attempt at price-fixing. •
