THE MONTH'S WORK

"We continue to receive applications for clothing -and footwear and the purchase of these for thirty cases involved an expenditure of £144 14s; the sum of £105 10s 8d was expended in sustenance, the total number assisted being 114," stated the report of the emergency committee to the meeting of the War Relief Association of Wellington held today. The committee had met 19 times since July 1, and during 22 days dealt with 134 claims, all of which were confirmed by the applications committee. General activities had continued unaltered. During the month several applications were received for assistance to meet living expenses from dependants of a number of ex-servicemen undergoing treatment in hospital, or attending as out-patients and unfit for employment. Expenditure for June exceeded receipts by £262 8s lOd, which was debited to capital. The total available funds as at June 30 were £15,250. The National War Funds Council continued to forward grants for the relief of fit unemployed men in necessitous circumstances.
