OBITUARY
MR. J. C. LEITCH
Mr. J. C. Leitch, assistant general manager of the Victorian branch of the Vacuum Oil Co. Pty., Ltd., died at Melbourne on Wednesday. Mr. Leitch was born on the West Coast, where he spent his early life, later attending Nelson College. From there he attended the School of Mines, University of Otago, being a resident of Knox College, where he was president of the Students' Association during his last year there. He graduated 8.E., and B.Sc. He was interested in the sporting life of the college, and toured Australia as manager of a visiting university Rugby football team. After some experience of mining, he joined the staff of the Vacuum Oil Co. Pty., Ltd., as lubrication engineer, serving in Wellington and Canterbury. In 1929 he was transferred to the company's Victorian branch with headquarters in Melbourne, where three years ago hewas made assistant general manager. He leaves a widow and two 'young children.
