LONDON, June 22,
The Prime Minister of New Zealand, Mr. M. J. Savage, conferred on migration with the Dominions Secretary, Mr. Malcolm Mac Donald, concluding a series of important talks on this subject. Mr. Mac Donald has arranged to send full particulars of organisation and types of people available when New Zealand .is ready to resume migration. It is understood that this will include assisted passages and other forms of financial aid to New Zealand.
It is stressed that Britain would prefer to send out young men and that New Zealand should train them in farm work.
Mr. Savage pointed out that his Government is moving very rapidly and has already reduced unemployment considerably. When local employables were in work he would be ready to discuss bringing out English migrants. The Government was wholeheartedly behind the idea of resumption of migration, and if Britain would agree to an open market for New Zealand products his country was willing and able to settle many men on the land.
