GOVERNOR-GENERAL
VISIT TO COAL DISTRICTS
(By Telegraph—Press Association.!.
WESTPORT, June 22.
The Governor-General (Lord Galway), under the direction of Mr. D. J. Archer, county chairman, today visited Denniston, Granity, Ngakawau, and Millerton, making a lengthy inspection of the Wareatea section of the Westport Coal Company's Denniston mines, this being particularly interesting to Lord Galway, as he is one of the directors of a coal-mining company in Britain. He was especially interested to note the area from which came the coal that saved the Calliope in the great storm at Apia. His Excellency briefly addressed the school children at Denniston and, on passing through other townships, was cheered by children who were drawn up in lines under their teachers.
