DEATH OF MACHINIST
A finding "that death was due to toxaemia- and.septicaemia arising from a virulent infection/ of the axilla and chest wall following,an abrasive wound of, the.middle; finger, of the' right hand was given, by■'the.'.-Coroner,. Mr.^E. Gilbertsbn, after an-ihquest today into the death of Ronald; Jbhh.:Buck,- a- machinist/aged 21.:'-".;=... .>•/ -;;;;■ ..;■■-.':.'■ ■.•''■ Sergeant- J.-. Edwards. conducted ■ithe inquest.' ""■ ■• ' . ' Stanley Roy Wilton, a machinist, employed at the Prestige Hosiery Mills, said that the deceased had told him that some stainless oil used on the machines in the factory had got into a cut on the back of his hand. The cut was abrasive, and was about a quarter of an inch long. It was stated in evidence that the deceased told' his father that he had knocked his finger, but did not say whether' or not he did so while at work. Dr. M. S. Riddell, of Wellington Hospital, said that the deceased was admitted, was sent home after treatment, and was readmitted later. . . _ .
-The finding, of the Coroner was in accordance with Dr. Riddell's opinion of the cause of death.. ■ -
