Y.W.C.A. ACTIVITIES
June and July promise to be busy, months for Young Women's Christian Association members who, in the midst of many activities, are now turning their attention to the raising of funds for the carrying on of the work cf the association.
All club groups have undertaken to raise sums varying from £5 to £30 towards the budget, but over and above this the support of the general public will be necessary, and a "street day" collection will be held later in the month. Mrs. Robert Gardner recently presided over a meeting of the special committee set up to make plans for this. The following agreed to act as "captains" to organise teams for collecting:—Mrs. E. W. Hunt, Mrs.; P. M. Cameron, Mrs. Coleman Stevens, Mrs. P. H. Kinsman, Mrs. R. Pearson, Mrs. Collier, Mrs. Tennent, Mrs. Bullock, Mrs. Christy, Misses M. Anscombe and E. Bennell. In addition, coin afternoons are being arranged in various suburbs by friends of the association.
Mr. W. Simm, manager of the D.1.C., and a member of the Y.W.C.A. advisory board, consented to give a bridge party in the D.I.C. tearooms in July, when it is expected that several hundred players will have the double pleasure of an enjoyable game, and at the same time assisting a very worthy cause.
