VISIT TO SAMOA
GERMAN CONSUL RETURNS
(Bf T«leg£«pd.— I'ross Association. I ; AUCKLAND, May 18. The German Consul for New' Zealand and Samoa, Dr. Walter Hellenthal, arrived at Auckland by the Matua, after paying his first ,visit, to American Samoa and the mandated territory of Western Samoa,- both, of which are included iri the area for which he is re^ sponsible. Dr. Hellenthal left Wellington a month ago by the Maui Pomare for Apia. He was the guest of the Acting Administrator, Mr. A. C. Turnbuil, for the period of his stay, in course of which he took part in the Coronation celebrations, held a reception at the German Club, Concordia, and laid wreaths Upon monuments over the graves of German, British,' and American seamen who lost their lives in the native war in 1899..
Later he was conveyed in an American warship to Pago Pago, where he was entertained by the Governor. Altogether, Dr. Hellenthal spent a month on the trip, and his stay-in both territories lasted a fortnight. He left for Wellington by tonight's express.
