NEED FOR SUPPORT
THE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
PARTY At LYCEUM CLUB
Lady Myers made an appeal for support for the Wellington Symphony Orchestra at a social party held.by the women's auxiliary'in .the' Lyceum Club yesterday afternoon.
"We must keep our orchestra alive. We must riot let it go out of existence," said Lady Myers. "We shouldn't have to depend upon visiting' artists to attract a good house. The public's appreciation of good music and of the endeavour of the Symphony Orchestra to supply a little culture-ih this distant part of the world where we have Jittle opportunity of enjoying such things should fill the/Town Hall at every concert." , Lady -Myers added .that she knew quite a, .number of people listened, in to the concerts, and to thes? lovers 'of : music ■ she made a special appeal asking that they should attend instead, as : the artists needed the inspiration of; an audisnee in front of them.
