ONE HOUR'S PAY
I The principle of the hour's pay as the basis of subscription from trade unionists to the King George V National Memorial Fund is being. carried out by members of the New Zealand Workers' Union in various parts of the country. A specific example of this principle is disclosed in a letter to the Mayor (Mr. T. C. A. Hislop) from Mr. J, A. Head, who collected subscriptions from the men on the Whirokino Public Works job. He wrote as follows: "I enclose herewith a cheque for £9, being one hour's pay donated to the King George V Memorial Fund by the employees of the Public Works Department, Whirokino, Foxton. I would suggest that thte donation be given wide publicity with the wish that other groups of workers throughout New Zealand may follow the lead given by the men on the above-men-tioned job."
