SCOPE FOR SERVICE
"Satis Verborum," warmly defend-' ing the officers and men of the Territorial forces, asks what has become of the "Defence League" and what it has accomplished in respect of military organisation. The Territorials receive no concessions at the. hands of local bodies, he adds, suggesting that the "Defence League" might look into this matter. The writer also points out that under modern conditions the demand for trained men becomes higher and there is a need for specialisation. "Our self-appointed task it is to lay a foundation for the expeditious building of an arm which may be expanded at the first call. In some cases the material we have is poor, but if the general public would only alter their attitude, surely the defence arm could be built up to a position of pride and strength." . .
