MAN DROWNED

WESTPORT, This Day,
Robert Seymour Mewes, a married man about 40 years of age, was drowned in the Buller River this morning.' He was employed by the Marine Department, and was instructed to prepare a launch for sounding operations. Some time later the officials arrived and found the engjne running but no sign of Mewes. After a search, dragging operations were commenced, and the body was recovered near by.
