KENOWNED PIANIST.
Max Schach" borrowed Hollywood methods to secure -Rowland V. Lee to direct Ann Harding in "Love From a Stranger." Schach particularly wanted Lee to direct the picture, but Lee, in great demand in Hollywood, was reluctant to make the trip- to England. Schach was convinced that once the director had read the story, a particularly interesting psychological subject, he would be anxious to take the assignment. So Schach cabled the 1600-word synonsis. As he anticipated, almost by return, he received a reply from Lee stating that he was immensely impressed by the story, ,and that he was >: catching the first available boat. Schach was i immensely impressed, too, by a,bill for £85 from the cable company.: •■:.■■'■■■■■.
