A PURPLE ROBE

The robe of an English princess has been made for Princess Elizabeth. It is fashioned from the material woven for' her mother as 7Duchess of York before the abdication. New fabric has had to.be woven for the Queen's Coronatiorirobe.

•The little Princess's robe is of rich hand-woven purple velvet, made from silk obtained from the English silkworms. It will hang from the shoulders, and, despite its name, is nothing more than a train, as princesses, unlike peeresses, do not wear the kirtle.

The Queen has decided that it is to be quite short. With it the little Princess will probably wear a white dress.

To prevent dry rot spreading, squirt cedar wood oil into holes and crevices. Use this oil for polishing also.
