TRANSPORT OF STOCK
(Special to the "Evenlns Post.") ' PALMERSTON N., This Day. Lorry owners who transport live stock have been concerned over a ruling by the Transport Department that the crates must be included in the gross weight of the vehicle. They brought the matter before the Kairanga and Manawatu County Councils yesterday, as the authorities privileged to grant exemption in the areas governed by those two bodies. The request met with sympathetic hearings and was finally acceded to, councillors pointing out that the cartage of stock by lorry meant that the animals-ar-rived at their destination in better condition and the motoring public benefited as it meant fewer stock on the roads.
