APTLY-NAMED YEARLING
' High-priced yearlings Invariably attract attention, and it is of interest to report that Mr. Philip Russell has registered the name Carpentier for the yearling colt by Gay Lothario from Savale he purchased at the yearling sales in Melbourne for 1850 guineas, says an Auckland report. The name is apt, as Carpentier, the great French boxer, was the idol of Paris for years, and Savate is a style of "all-in" fighting adopted in France.
